One of the fun things about being part of a home school co-op is the social aspect. Our co-op is more than just classes, we’ve tried very hard to have a co-op where friendships are built. One way of doing that is by socializing together.

We meet on Thursdays and this year Valentine’s Day falls on a Thursday. How cool is that? So, we’re having little party after co-op. Which, of course, means lots of candy. But we always like to give a few non candy treats, too.

So, Esther and I made heart crayons. We made enough for everyone. I’m sure the older kids will just give them to their younger siblings, that’s ok.

Start with some extra crayons. You can use all those broken ones that irritate you or some of the excess you bought when they were 25 cents a box in August.

Start pealing and breaking. This is a little confusing for the kids who hear “don’t break your crayons” from mom. Mom may have to walk away from the table and just let the kids go at it. Fill each tin at least half way up.

Bake at 350 degrees for 4-5 minutes until just melted. Don’t walk away. Try not to jiggle them too much taking them out of the oven.

Cool completely and then pop out of muffin tin. This is where using a silicone pan comes in handy.
