Every Christmas we make a family favorite cookie from Carl’s childhood. We call it a cookie, but really it’s a candy. It’s so fun to see Carl’s parents and brother oooh and aaah over them and hear the stories that get told about Christmases long past.
My children have stories of their own pertaining to this cookie, like Phoebe getting Grand Champion in her age division at the county fair when she was 4 and entered these cookies. These cookies are so simple, I’m confident my children will make them with their children.

How do you make these wonderful cookies?
You just need a stick of butter (yes, butter not margarine), a bag of chocolate chips and a bag of colored mini marshmallows….oh, and wax paper.

Melt the stick of butter in a pan. Add the chocolate chips and stir until melted. Take off the heat and let it cool for a couple of minutes.

While you’re waiting, get two pieces of wax paper that are about 12-18″ long. Now, quickly stir the marshmallows into the butter and chocolate. Pour about half the mixture on to the wax paper in a line.

Roll the wax paper to make a log and twist the ends. Do the same with the other half.
Refrigerate for a few hours. Unwrap and slice.
